Review of Sedo.com Domain Parking
Posted on October 7th, 2007 by admin in Domain News | 2 Comments »
Sedo.com pride themselves at being the number one domain name parking provider.
Signing up is a simple process. After filling in your details, you can start parking domains. Domains are added after DNS is confirmed, which takes moments.
You can optimize your parked pages by selecting the best keywords for your domains. You also have a choice of 6 templates to choose from when deciding the best parked page for your domain name.
Sedo.com commissions are generous. The payout date is the 15th of each month, and you will get paid if you have reached the minimum payout limit of $20. Payments are made via paypal, check or wire transfer.
Apart from parking your domains, Sedo.com offers a second to none parked domain market and auction. When your domain is parked, visitors have the opportunity to make an offer for your domain. When you receive an offer you can accept it, or you can push the domain name into a 3 day auction. While in auction the domain name gets a lot of exposure and has every chance of getting a lot more bids.
Sedo.com handles all your sales issues including a safe escrow payment process. Also, if you own a strong collection of domains, you should check out SedoPro.com which is a higher level Sedo.com system for stronger domain name portfolios.
Overall, Sedo.com ranks highly as a domain name parking provider and aftermarket. To wrap up I have provided the features Sedo.com offers in tabular form:
| Signup fee | Payment options | Payment date | Minimum payout | Template Customization | Usability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | paypal, wire transfer and check | On the 15th of the month. | $20 | 6 templates to chose from | Medium level of usability |

Sedo’s “Top Domain” requirements are bogus.
A person can fulfill all of the stated requirements and they’ll still be rejected for a position in this highly coveted, highly promoted area. There is one other “requirement” that sedo fails to mention – the domain must appraise for millions of dollars (or, for some odd reason, have a .co.uk extension) to get inducted.
The “Top Domains” feature is nothing more than a way for sedo to cherry pick the “cream of the crop” domains (the ones they’ll make the most commission off of when they sell). Looking at these “Top Domains” pages, you can see that the odds aren’t exactly in sedo’s favor as they predict that they’d be – few have any kind of decent traffic / bids. So much for sedo’s judgment. Makes you wonder how accurate their “expert appraisals” are…
They care nothing about the tens of thousands of domains listed that will never be seen by buyers. They encourage (bilk) these domain owners to order an appraisal and list their domains in the “Featured Domains” window, saying that these steps are necessary to successfully “promote” the domains (see “expert appraisals” above).
But even in the shorter list of “Featured Domains” there are still hundreds of less desirable domains littering up the category. It’s nearly impossible for a valuable domain to stand out in this muck. The word “Featured” implies that the domains are special in some way and deserve special front page recognition. Actually, sedo’s definition of the word seems to be “there’s a sucker born every minute.” They’ll let anyone with the cash list here, no matter how good or bad the domain might be.
Do yourself a favor – don’t buy into it.

Sedo.com are basically a bunch of theives. You hardly make any money and when you finally do make 20 bucks after a year they refuse to pay you.
