Posted on October 20th, 2007 by admin in Domain News | 1 Comment »
Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, the French territories in the Carribean have recently been allocated new country ISO codes and hence new ccTlds.
The two territories only recently gained independence and hence have been allocated new ISO country codes. They were allocated the ISO codes BL and MF respectively.
Subsequenty, ICANN has updated its country code list to include .BL and .MF respectively.
Of course, you shouldn’t expect to see any new domains with the extensions .BL or .MF any time soon. The governemtns of the two countries have to request the ccTlds from ICANN first at which time the allocation process will be commenced.
