Montenegro .me Tld to attract interest for domain hacks
Montenegro gained independence on June 3, 2006 from Serbia and Montenegro. On September 11, 2007, ICANN delegated the .me to Montenegro as their official tld. Open registration is not yet available, but domain name servers do locate .me and initial sites for the government of the country and the registry do exist.
Upon inspection, the registry website, nic.me, is still under development, however, they can expect a surge of registrations once they open to the public. The .me Tld can be as popular as the .it Tld that was assigned to Italy.
I can already imagine domains like help.me, marry.me, download.me, view.me and many others to be a popular hit with domainers world wide.
A precedent has been set with Tlds such as .it, .mn, .ws, .us and others being bought by domainers to be used as domain hacks. One of the best domain hacks out there is del.icio.us. A lot of domains are bound to be snapped up quickly once the .me registry opens for business.
