Fulltilt.com to be auctioned off because of too much traffic

Have you ever heard of anyone not wanting free traffic? Well, me neither… until now.

Software solutions firm Fulltilt.com – a company completely unaffiliated to the poker world – is to auction off their domain name because they are getting visited by over 60,000 poker players per month – players that are looking for the poker website FullTiltPoker.com.

It’s just too much to handle for poor old FullTilt.com :) .

”At first we thought that the extra traffic was fun, but now the traffic has grown to a point of distraction and is utilizing resources that should be reserved for our customers and prospects” says Timothy Wallace, CEO of FullTilt Solutions.

If it was me, I would just move the company website to another domain, and stick this little beauty with a parking provider.

The auction is expected to bring in more then a million dollars.

Well, I could understand for 1 million dollars. I would rather get that much money instantly then have to wait with a parked page.

Depends in how much of a hurry they are. Some of these domains earn up to 10k per month in parking revenue if optimized right. Some earn even more. Especially in a gambling niche. That is some 120k per year.

I would give it a test run and see what I am getting out of it. If I could get 120k per year, I would stick with it, since in 10 years time I would get my million and then some.

I suppose it all depends on whether they need the money bad or not.

  3. If they just park it and populate the landing page with porker ads, or redirect to FullTiltPoker.com, it will be the biggest mistake they will ever make.

I believe the poker company can sue for trademark infringement and win the case hands down, IMHO.

They might have had their lawyers check out the various possibilities, and they figured out selling was the best way forward.
