Is Wodka.com the real deal?

Here is an interesting bit of news. W + K Amsterdam is behind a project to promoted Polish vodka brand Wodka Wyborova. The site claims that the original vodka is spelled with a w and comes from Poland.

It seems the site is being passed around via mass and social media. When I visited there were 300 users online. Apparently, the Polish claim that the original drink was created in Poland. They have a great campaign backed up by their domain Wodka.com.

I wonder how Rousam Tariko feels about this having spent three million dollars on Vodka.com recently.

This brings up the point of generic domains and how they affect a brand. It will be interesting to see how this whole story affects Russian Standard Vodka, which for a while there looked like it was uncatchable in the global market.
