ICANN board members today voted unanimously to re-delegate the management of the Barbados ccTld .BB to the government of Barbados.
Up until today, the ccTLD was under the management of the local office of Cable & Wireless, however, the government of the West Indian nation recently submitted an application to ICANN asking for the right to manage their country’s top level domain directly.
At its latest meeting, held via teleconference on November 20th, ICANN’s board voted unanimously to accept the request from Barbados’ Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development’s Telecommunications Unit to have .BB re-delegated to it.
BB is available to local residents and companies. It is unknown whether the availability of .BB domains will change with the change of management.
