Free Registrant Search

Posted on December 15th, 2007 by admin in Domain News | 2 Comments »

In an effort to make things more transparent, having caused a big uproar with their new Registrant Search tool, DomainTools have decided to offer a single free registrant search to all it’s visitors.

After releasing their commercial tool, they were ostracized from some corners of the domainer world, due to the sheer power RegistrantSearch offers to anyone that wields it. Registrant Search allows you to find all the domain names a person owns.

As part of this free promotion, Jay Westervald, the owner of DomainTools, hopes to make the whole Registrant Search process more transparent:

We think this is just one step towards a more balanced Registrant Search tool. If people can order a report on you, then you should have the right to know what they can possibly order. Transparency should go both ways.

So the free registrant search allows you to order a report on yourself. It is pretty useful as you can find all the domains you own, even ones you may have forgotten about.

Have you ever bought a domain from Snapnames or another drop catching place and have no idea which registrar that domain ended up at. After a few months of buying domains you start to lose track of those domains, this tool now allows you to track down those domains for FREE.

Is there anyway to get this report for free for someone elses email address? I’m trying to nail a scammer.
