Yahoo has been in a downfall in recent times, as outlined by a number of blogs and news sites in recent times, due to their dwindling stock value and lowest profits in 4 years.
In an extraordinary development, Microsoft have announced they have made an unsolicited approach to purchase Yahoo Inc with an offer of $44.6 billion!!!
This is Microsoft’s boldest ever attempt at catching up to Google in the online search and advertising market.
The surprise offer of $31 per share was made late Thursday and announced today on Microsoft’s presspass site.
It will be very interesting to see how this story develops!
Microsoft will host an analyst/investor conference call at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time/5:30 a.m. Pacific Time to discuss today’s announcement.
