EuroDNS really screwed up the .ASIA Go Live kick off - I am so PISSED OFF!!!

What a bummer! The .ASIA Go Live kicked off yesterday and I, like thousands of other domainers, tried to get my hands on some cool generic .asia domain names via EuroDNS. I went with some 15 dictionary words which I thought were the most valuable as a taster before I continue with more registrations.

I tried various names and the ones I went with were obviously displayed as available. I proceeded to add them to my cart and go through the registration process. I entered my credit card details, and processed the order.

I went to the pendings section and the domains I had ordered were in the pendings section. The first thing that raised my suspicion was the message that the domain names were pending and EuroDNS was waiting for confirmation of my creditcard payment before they proceed. Ok, I thought, perhaps it’s part of their process.

I went off for a coffee and came back some 30 minutes later to check my “pendings” queue. 10 of the 15 domain names were gone from it so I though cool, they must be in my domains area. I go there, nothing. I go to my email and there I find one order email for each of the domain names I had ordered - everything regular. I go to my ebanking account and my credit card was charged for the 15 domain names.

It was already late in the day so I had to wait till today to check what has happened. It appears the software they were running has screwed up. None of the domain names that I bought were actually available yet my credit card was charged for each one of them.

Not only that, the people on the EuroDNS support line did not apologize or anything. They simply stated matter-of-fact that I had been charged by mistake. I had to fight to convince them that I was charged dubiously. In addition when I asked whether the domains were mine, they simply stated “oh the domains have been registered by someone else”…

WTF????

What a way to Go Live with a tld! Screw up the software, charge people dubious credit card charges and then not even have the common decency to apologize over your mistake!

Even right now the whole domain purchase setup is behaving strangely. Anyone else experience these sorts of problems?

maybe it’s a sign from GOD not to get .asia domains :)

EuroDNS is a reputable registrar and would not dubiously charge you. We have done business with EuroDNS as our site sponsor for the past two years and they are one of the best registrars out there.

Well Chief Editor, that’s a silly thing to say considering they have dubiously charged me, their system was broken, their system indicated I did get the domain names in question only to make them disappear from my control panel…

These are all facts, not allegations so I have no idea where you get the idea that “would not dubiously charge you” since they have done just that.

I am the CEO of EuroDNS, and the answer to this is quite simple.

Before the GO Live Period there was the Landrush Period. If you really wanted good “dictionary” names you should have submitted those names during LAndrush.

All good names of the Landrush are still in Auction Process and the registry did a technical mistake during the GoLive start to show those pending auction names as available as they are not registered yet, though they are not available now (some might though again if nobody will bid on them during the auction).

So during the GoLive start we figured out that the registry gave false availability answers for those names.

Meanwhile we do a crosscheck with all domains that we submitted during Landrush, and this should eliminate 95% of the false-positives.

We are sorry that this happened and all money charged will automatically be charged back to your acccount.

But I think that the main frustration comes from not getting these names, and there it is your own fault not to have participated in the Landrush where not application got rejected but doubles go to auction.

Regarding the support reaction, probably they did not understand the dubious credit charge question as our system automatically recredits all orders that can not be converted into registration.

So our system will recredit your account as it does to any customer when an order can not be converted into a registration.

We are sorry that you felt this way and I will make sure that the support communicates better on the fact the customer get always full credit back.

EuroDNS/AsiaDNS offers .ASIA domains for only 10.-Euro (promocode: 7ASIA10) and also offers free the same .ASIA.COM

hi, with all respect, but is this your first landrush? I guess so, how can the registrar or the registry show domains taken if they are still in the auction, better they accept your orders and keep them pending or delete them after a while.
if 2 people went for abc.asia and none of them are bidding the name goes in the landrush pool, that means you have a chance to get them. (for the registry the name is still available).
For which name did you go? nice dictionary names?
You have been in the .es landrush? in the .es landrush I had names in position 3 or 4 in the registry whois pending! and I got them! the other aplicants where rejected. Thanks to EuroDNS because they showed them free even if other registrars submitted, I had never bigger problems with them, I always got my money back. I have 5k names with EuroDNS, and meanwhile I have approx 100 one word generic .asia names! But I was so clever to submit in the Auction-Landrush.
By the way, do you know that ASiaDNS is the DotAsia Registrar Nr. 1?

@Xavier: thanks for explaining what happened, it is very cool of you.

@Jacky: no it’s not my first landrush, and as you can see from Xavier’s message, there was a glitch in the system.

All i know i did a terrible mistake choosing EuroDns: on the other i had a lot of trust in them but their poor performance didnt attained my trust in them any more
well : thats my story : but i still dont hate them iknow maybe there was problem but im mad that they dont even inform their users about it : one thing more i registered one of my domain in Dotasia live : i checked the domain in euroasia/godaddy/monsterdomains : and it was available but after registration it was gone with my other domains as well it is also due to software problem cuz i know there is no way that this domain was also registered in land rush so where is this domain now ? : i hav written all of my prob here cuz if not in ur EURODNS customer centre you may response here :

Can’t you guys read what I wrote.

1) Registry showed all names that are stuck in Landrush Auction Process as available during GOLIVE.
(go to registry to learn all about Sunrise / LAndrush / Auction, GoLIVE)
2) So in the end either we should have shown taken, or you can consider that it is normal, as these domain at Auction can theoretically become free again if nobody bids on the domains in Auction.

3) but in any case as already said, all orders that in the end are transformed into registrations automatically get re-credited.

Conclusion: You should anyway have participated at the Landrush to get really good names, and secondly I am sick and tired to read about dubious transactions while our system is build to get fort you the best names (in this case waiting for you that the auctions are finished to grab the best names for you, while the system will anyway recredit you if it is not able to get it.

We submitted over 150k names and thousands are happy that got really good names. I am sorry for you who do not understand the rules of Landrush/auction/Golive, who do not understand the logic between running auctions and names that will become free again out of these auctions and who can’t simply read/understand the sentences that we try to get the name for you and when it is not possible, you automatically get reimbursed. How difficult is that to understand.

We can all read your sentences Xavier. You are writing very legible stuff.

The problem is that you are saying one thing and your support staff are saying another.

Your support staff are replying to my emails saying my credit card has not been charged - they do not even want to check the financial records - when obviously my credit card has been charged.

So my question is, can’t you read? We are not talking about the landrush period. We are talking about your support staff claiming our credit cards have not been charged!

First thing : if you plz refund my money cuz my money has been charged both from my credit-card & Credit Account at eurodns :AS you said that money would not be charged in such cases then where is my re-fund ?
…….
Second thing:@admin : atleast their support staff is responding you but here send many mails days ago and still receive no response i bet they re really very tired after submitting 150k domains while they re enjoying their dreams & their customers tearing out their hair out cuz they driving them crazy
..
any how : i give-up and wat about you @admin ?
cuz i dont wanna involve in some dispute rightnow and obviously i lost my money + hopes
well : Mr.Xavier Buck it was really a GoodWay to kick of .AsiaGolive you really re a iT genius :
still i hav a little hope from EuroDns i hav applied some domains via EuroDns at LandRush so i hope they will not create this type of situation again : AM i right Mr. Xavier Buck ?
and ForGodSake plz wake up ur Support Staff :Dreams over face the reality
and one more thing we all know about DotAsia. we re not a 10 year old kids playing with computer

[...] appears it’s something similar to the EuroDNS confusion during the .ASIA launch. People all over the place are getting confusing confirmation messages only [...]

EuroDNS now really screwed up the .ME landrush!! I applied for about 10 (serious) .ME domain names and NONE of those application have been submitted to the registry - and as a result, all those domain names have been taken by someone else and no auctioning at all… >( >(
Let this be a warning for everyone!

I’ve had a .asia domain sitting as pending since the 20th of JULY. It wasn’t taken earlier today, 23rd of JULY, but i just checked and it is now TAKEN automagicly. No lands rush, no go live, and there was NO auction just a 2+ day wait for an available name and still a pending notice. I’ve been doing this a while and I am able to read, so did I miss something? I’ll post back here if it was me who got it.

The SAME thing happened to my .me domains purchased during the landrush period. The order went through and all seemed well. The day I was supposed to get my domains released to me — I got an email that said they were “already registered”. Their support folks told me that they were “reserved”, and I got a refund a week or so later. I’m realllllly bummed / angry.
