Godaddy declares April 29th webmasters’ day
Here is an interesting piece of news. Godaddy have announced they are declaring April 29th Webmasters day.
“to honor the professionals responsible for the content on Web sites across the world, GoDaddy.com is declaring April 29 Webmasters’ Day.”
I think it’s a bit of linkbait from Bob Parsons and his crew, but hey it’s working - I am posting about it :).
“We think it’s great Webmasters are being recognized for their efforts. Webmasters are not ‘geeks’ who sit in the server closet, they are integral parts of companies now,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters. “During the last ten years, the Internet changed the way we as a society interact. Webmasters are key to Internet development.”
There really is a World Organization of Webmasters :)?
“The Internet wouldn’t be where it is today without this underappreciated group who keep content on the ‘net fresh,” GoDaddy.com CEO and Founder Bob Parsons said. “I think a day to remind everyone of how vital Webmasters are is way overdue.”
Well you would say that now wouldn’t you Bob :)? In all seriousness though, you can go to www.godaddy.com/WebmastersDay and send your favourite webmaster a friendly greeting card wishing them calm and flowing webservers on their new found holiday.
I got this lead from logistiklabs.

Yes, its true there really is an organization for Webmasters.
My name is Bill Cullifer and I am the founder and executive director of the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) and we’ve been around for 11 years.
WOW’s supports community, education and certification for Web professionals worldwide. In fact, I am in Beijing this week at the WWW International Web conference delivering WOW education and certification.
Here’s my actually quote for GoDaddy. Although I am ok with the other one I didn’t write it. :–)
“We think it’s great that organizations such as GoDaddy.com are recognizing Webmasters for the true professionals that they are,” said Bill Cullifer, Executive Director, World Organization of Webmasters.
“Webmasters serve their customers with a broad skillset, including strong technical, design, business and project management skills, and
they play a pivotal role in any organization’s structure today.”
