TrafficZ to buy DomainTools?

An interested bit of news or rumour ( whatever you want to call it ) is being bandied around various domaining hangouts today - TrafficZ (or it’s parent company Thought Convergence) is buying NameIntelligence, the parent company of the DomainTools.com.

The strange thing about it is that the price they mention is around 16 to 18 million USD, which in my mind is way too low a figure for an established player in the domain name industry.

The rumour was first posted on here, also mentioned here and discussed here.

If they do buy DomainTools.com then I will not be using DomainTools or TrafficZ anymore.

I don’t want a parking company looking at my searches.

This has the same nasty smell of DomainSponsor buying Snapnames.
