I just read an interesting post on Sahar Sarid’s blog about a Facebook domain name network. It’s worth checking out.

One of the many resourceful Facebook groups I belong to is the Facebook Domain Name Network. Considered to be “your place to connect with domainers from around the world” the group is a great place to discuss flipping domain names as a hobby as well as for profit. Many members of the group are in fact active BizzFlip users who regularly post domain names for sale on our site.

Recently, the admins are contemplating adding a new feature to the group which would ultimately function as a premium domain name auction. Members would submit one of their premium domain names for consideration and a panel consisting of two or three administrators would determine whether or not this domain would go for auction in the topics section. There will be a permanent post on the news section of the group making the announcement, thereby giving maximum exposure to said domain.

Here are the rules:

1. You submit a domain name. Upon approval by the panel, A message is sent out to all of the members and the domain gets posted in the news section and as a discussion board topic: “Premium Domain Auction: XYZ.com”

2. FB Domain Name Network Members place live bids on the board. The owner makes the decision of whether to sell the domain name or keep it. FB Domain Name Network officers and administrators would not be allowed to participate in the auction in order to eliminate conflict of interest.

3. The duration of the auction will be one week. Members who wish to bid anonymously can do so by reaching the panel, who will act as an agent between the seller and the buyer. More than one domain name can be submitted by a member for consideration, however, only one will be chosen per auction.
