The power of brandable domain names

If you follow the various domaining discussions at places like DNForum or NamePros you can still find a number of doubters who smirk at the mention of a meaningless 5 letter .com domain name.
5 letter domain names due to their vast number cannot possibly be compared to their 4 or 3 letter equivalent. 5 letter domain names will never run out. The naysayers keep going in the same tone.
While reading my favourite tech blog TechCrunch today I noticed an interesting trend of website domains in the news. Wigix.com is being mentioned as a far more modern and well organized alternative to Ebay. The people at Jajah.com have done a deal with Yahoo to provide Yahoo Messenger with Voip services. A six letter brandable domain name Zillow.com was in the news a while back and is continuously doing well as a Real Estate portal. The trend continues on various news networks for various brandable short domain names.
I advise you to stock up on brandable five letter domain names while you still can as their application and potential is limitless.

Absolutely John.. the what a man can do with 5Ls can only be limited by man’s imagination. ‘Yahoo’ is a typical case in point.
excellent push for 5 letter domains
There are many reasons why you should invest in the .com extension, the biggest is shear volume of traffic that flows through the .com extension. The old saying that you want to buy real estate where there is heavy traffic applies to the World Wide Web. It should be any domainers first choice in my opinion.
I laugh when I see the mentality of the posters at forums like NPs and DNF. These guys have had their heads stuck up the PPC void for so long they don’t even recognize the value of brandables anymore if they ever did.
It’s a bit sad to see the domain industry represented about as well as the politics lie. Just like in politics, the fringes are over-vocal, mostly wrong and possibly a bit insane while the silent majority (of voters and domainers) quietly chuckle and then turn back to business.
The domain industry is NOT limited to NPs, DNF or Traffic. Most of us are quite happy well below the radar.
