GazProm Media Buys RuTube For $15 Million

GazProm-Media, a subsidiary of Russia’s largest company (and one of the largest companies in the world) GazProm, has completed the acquisition of Russia’s YouTube - RuTube - for $15 million.

According to TechCrunch, RuTube attracted 2 million unique visitors in Russia versus 2.9 million Russian uniques for YouTube in September. It is important to note that RuTube doubled it’s audience since June.

Godaddy Registration Period Defaults To 5 Years

Most domainers stop at the registration duration screen to switch to a 1 year registration when registering a domain name with Godaddy - but perhaps less experienced users don’t.

In any case, as has been covered by other bloggers here and here, Godaddy have changed their default registration duration to 5 years - instead of the previous 2 - to increase revenue.

Game Media Inc has purchased Casino.RU at the price of $250 000 US making Casino.RU the largest domain transaction in the .RU Russian ccTld to date.
