Aweber widget shows aweber subscriber count – will you use it?

I have been using Aweber to handle my newsletter subscribers and newsletter sending for as long as dnxpert.com has been around – I am more than happy with the service and unless something extraordinary happens to force my hand, I don’t think I will be switching over to anything else.
In recent times Aweber have been making quite a few improvements the latest one of which is quite interesting and poses a dilemma for many newsletter owners.
Aweber have sent out an email to all newsletter owners that they have released a new feature called the Aweber subscriber count chicklet or widget. You can display it independently or as part of the newsletter subscription form and it looks something like this (colours are customizable):
![]()
The dilemma it poses? Well, certainly some newsletter owners might want to display a subscriber count as it shows how popular their newsletter is ( similar to the rss subscriber count ). Other newsletter owners might be more reluctant to do so, especially if they offer a service where subscriber numbers may indicate to new potential subscribers that more people will be exposed to a scarce resource therefore nullifying the usability of the service.
I guess we have to test, test and test and see what happens.

Well, if an expired domain newsletter had 10,000 subscribers, would you subscribe?
You’d have 10,000 other subscribers to compete with when trying to register a nice expired domain.

Hi John, can you please elaborate on what you mean by the above excerpt?
