Protecting Your Whois Searches

Recent issues with NetSol and other registrars monitoring whois searches for various reasons have highlighted the need to protect your domain whois searches if you want to register an available domain at a later date.
It has happened to many of us at one time or another. We find a perfect domain name, go to a whois site or registrar, type in the domain name and see that it’s available. We go away for coffee, come back in about five minutes or so after having decided to purchase the domain name only to find that it has been picked up by someone else. There are only so many times you can wave these things off as coincidences.
Well, there is something you can do to prevent this from happening. This is just one of many domaining tips I reveal in my domaining ebook. In order to conceal your whois searches and make sure your searches don’t get monitored, you can download the Domain All In One tool from DomainState.com. It is located in their tools section and is a brilliant little resource. Not only does it let you do live whois checks on various extensions, but it also does some backlink checking, PR, and overture.
Most importantly, many domainers have used it without ever experiencing a domain being snatched from under our noses. I have checked over 10,000 domain names and come back tomorrow to find the domain names still available.

Alas, the tool does not work on iMacs but
thanks for the tip.
I never realized Domain State had that tool page.

Thanks for providing me this cool tip: I’ve always been paranoid about this thing that somebody else could steel my ideas.

The people who monitor domains like that should have their computers dropped on them. I used to use two sites that offer great options for domain name ideas. There was a time when a few of the names I wanted were mysteriously taken afterward. I’ve been using GoDaddy since then as I’m told they don’t do such things as monitor the searches that go on their site. In any case, I’ll have to check out this tool you talked about. Sounds very interesting.
