My Imaginary Domain Shopping List – Top 10

Posted on August 21st, 2008 by admin in Domain News | No Comments »

I sometimes feel like it’s a mortal sin to own a great domain name and simply park it. It’s just too easy. Park and forget. Where is the fun in that? The top domain names that I own are certainly at a development stage at the moment.

Any domainer worth their salt will tell you there are certain domain names they would just love to own and develop. I have a list of my own.

1. Sport.com – currently simply says under development. Fair enough. I’d love to turn this baby into a global sports portal. It’s Alexa rank is 140,000 and it’s just a black screen. The amount of type-in traffic this beauty gets must be really impressive.

2. Fashion.com – I just moved this from #6 to #2. Fashion.com is literally a goldmine waiting to be discovered. Women are fast becoming the #1 shoppers on the web and sites focusing on fashion, entertainment news etc are money making machines.

3. Profit.com – Crying out for an internet marketing or money portal. It’s just parked. Boring!

4. Jewels.com – Jewelry is big on the web yet this little jewel just returns a “Page Load Error”.

5. Dining.com – Another boring domain parking page. How about turning it into a restaurant review site? It would be in my bookmarks for sure.

6. Technology.com – I bet the guys over at TechCrunch would love to get their hands on this gem. One Awesome Domain Name!

7. PressRelease.com – Why this domain is not developed is beyond me. PR on the web is extremely popular. Perhaps they are waiting for a bid from PressReleases.com.

8. Browse.com – Would be extremely cool as a shopping portal.

9. magic.com – A cool and brandable domain name.

10. value.com – Another highly usable shopping portal domain name.

Let me just clear a few things up – I do realise there are other domain names like sex.com which are under utilized and worth more money – but this is my imaginary shopping list, I am tired of the same old stuff.

Secondly, I do realise that the owners of these domain names are most likely happy with the revenue they rake in as a result of type-in traffic and their parking arrangements – I just think it’s a shame that these domain names are not developed.

So, what’s on your imaginary shopping list?
