Deciding On A Membership Script

Posted on August 28th, 2008 by admin in Domain Development, Domain News | 1 Comment »

I am currently in the process of putting together a membership section here at DNXpert.com. As part of the planning process I am searching for a membership script.

Here are some criteria I have jotted down as key to choosing the right membership script.

1. Integration with Aweber mailing list management services. I find Aweber to be the safest way to manage mailing lists – it is what they do, they have multiple daily backups, various contingency plans, and they handle the load of sending out thousands of double opt-in mails. Hosting my own list is just not an option. So, I want to integrate my membership script with Aweber.

2. The coupon system has to carry through from month to month. Some scripts have limitations that only allow you to have the coupon last a month.

3. Can people easily cancel subscriptions? I want trouble-free subscriptions and unsubscriptions… nothing worse then unhappy customers.

4. I want a solid affiliate management system that allows all my subscribers to be affiliates and earn money themselves.

5. I want to be able to restrict sections of the subscriber area based on membership type.

6. I want to have multiple membership/subscription types? like a free area, $9/month area, $19/month area etc.

7. I want to have file download links generated and protected from non-member download.

8. I want to have an easily editable templating system.

Currently I have brought my shortlist down to AMember and EasyMemberPro. Anyone had any experience with membership software and could offer some advice?

  1. Linda says:

Ive been using amember for over 8yrs and it works well. Depending on the features you need, it may be overkill. I use it integrated with 4images as the image manager.
It handles large amounts of members both free and various levels (9) of paid membership, with access to different areas depending on level.
Alex, the developer has never ever failed to be helpful.
    I recommend it
