Build Traffic Via Forum Posting

You can drive hundreds of targeted visitors to your website by participating in forums frequented by members interested in your niche.
In order to get targeted traffic from forums you need to participate in forums that let you include a link to your website in their forum signature line. For example, the DNXpert Domain Forum allows you to place up to 3 links in your signature.
You will find that internet marketing savvy forums like DigitalPoint have threads with huge numbers of signature links which equate to a lot of competition. On the other hand, numerous other niches have far less members that own a website. This equates to a far greater chance of getting traffic with some well placed signature links.
In order to really utilize forums for driving traffic to your website, you have to participate regularly, writing at least 1 or 2 posts a day (or more if you want quicker results). By the way, an additional plus to posting links in your forum signature is that search engines get to see your link associated with your keywords more often which is always a good thing.
Here are a couple of factors to consider when choosing a forum to promote in:
Forum Size: When it comes to forum membership size you will find that bigger is not always better. Sometimes its better to be a big fish in a little pond although you should be careful with smaller forums as smaller forums are often more intimate and harder to earn recognition in.
Forum Traffic: Just as with forum size, forum traffic should be considered based on its quality rather then quantity. There is no point further contributing to a spam-fest.
Active Member Participation: Be careful not to waste your time in a dead forum. Carefully examine the latest posts checking their date as well as volume to determine whether your time there will be well spent.
Matching Niche: Obviously, the forum you join needs to be based in or around the same niche you are blogging about. There is very little point in promoting a football blog in a beading or knitting forum community.
It is very important you do not try to game forums by joining and posting your link inappropriately.
Forums are communities of like minded people with similar interests. You will find that long term forum members are very protective of their community and view new members suspiciously mainly as a result of marketers promoting their links over-zealously.
You will achieve the best results from driving traffic via forums by actively participating with an aim to productively contribute to conversations while keeping your website link in your signature.

Great information. I have participated in various forums related to my niche for years but never really used the power of placing a sig in my emails.
