GirlInYourShirt.com – Awesome Promotional Gimmick
Posted on November 14th, 2008 by admin in Domain News | 9 Comments »
Every now and again a new promotional gimmick pops up on the web that you just know will cause a few waves in the ocean that is the web – figuratively speaking.
I was browsing TechCrunch today and ran into this article about GirlInYourShirt.com. The site is run by a girl called JenaƩ who offers to wear your startup shirt and talk about your company for a day for $75. As part of the deal she will post videos on her site, YouTube, Seesmic and Viddler, and post pictures on Flickr. She will also tweet about your startup on Twitter.com.
Are you a business, club, cause or individual etc. just wanting to be showcased? If so, this is the place to do it! Here the goal is to feature a new shirt everyday! Not only will I be showcasing your shirt, but I will be spreading the news about who you are, what you do, and how others can do business with, or contact you. You’ll be featured on Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Viddler & Seesmic.
Right here on the show, I open the package you send, talk about you, then wear your shirt and spread the news! Along with your shirt, whatever you send in your package will be featured, demoed and shown to the world! Each day after the show, the shirt (off my back) and items that came with it, will be placed in the Shirt&Swag Graveyard to be up for grabs to anyone who would like them!
Kudos to her for having the guts to go ahead with an idea that she came up with. If you have a website you want some extra promotion for, why not send her a shirt to wear for a whole day for just $75!

Quite a nice idea, but obviously not new.
The price should be negotaiable based on where and how many hrs she will be on the streets.
Dressding up only 1 day is also subject to the date itself; the appealing level of dressing on Monday and sunday is certainly different. She should offer longer packages, such as a weak.
Thanx for the article John

Hi,
That’s a really cool idea.
I do think she should have worn a GirlInYourShirt.com shirt in her video.
Lead by example.
Maybe she didn’t want to pay herself $75.

@Dominik Mueller – I wonder how many other businesses The Shoe has inspired
.
@Nguyen – I don’t think she actually wears the shirt to town or anything – it’s just her on her cam and stuff. At least from what I understood when I went to the site.
@Chef Patrick & @Patrick McDermott – yea I thought it was cool too – not sure how long term it is once the novelty wears off, but still cool.

I love this idea, and I think there are a few others like it where you can pick from a “menu” of girls.

The idea has probably been inspired by ShoeMoney.com’s Free Shirt Friday, but it’s cool to see a business being built around it. The mention on TechCrunch should give her a big load of traffic to get things rolling.
GirlInYourShirt.com: Good domain for branding, in my opinion.
