China Reaches 13 Million Domain Registrations

The ccTld (Country code top level domain) for China .CN has gone past the 13 million mark in domain name registrations. At the end October (31 October 2008 to be exact) there were 12,915,737 domain names registered with the .CN extension and with an average of 400,000 domain names registered per month over the past year we will have seen the .CN registration count go way past 13 million already this month.

With well over 13 million registrations .CN is the largest country code top level domain, with the former top ccTld .DE of Germany sitting currently at around 12,379,346 domain names registered.

In January 2008, .CN passed the 10 million registrations mark, in March the 11 million mark and the 12 millionth registration in June.
