I was looking through my blog stats today – it helps me maintain traffic flow and optimize my site search queries and search engine traffic as well as see where my referred traffic is coming from – when I noticed some incoming hits from a website appraisal tool.
The incoming hits came from: http://www.cubestat.com/www.dnxpert.com.
Cubestat is one of many website appraisal tools out there that try to leverage various freely available site metrics to try and estimate the value of a website. Their faq section explains:
Cubestat’s algorithm is based on numerous free internet sources including age, indexed pages, backlinks, ranks and popularity.
Even though like Estibot, I mainly value automated, algorithm-based sites on the statistics they provide rather then any end result I may receive from a query, I have to say they were not bad in appraising DNXpert.com.
DNXpert.com has 900+ posts and receives from 500 to 1000 daily unique visitors. It ranks on page #1 for most industry terms and it’s current earnings hover around the $1000 mark per month – revenue is split between forum premium member subscriptions and advertiser payments. That’s not counting the various affiliate commissions that we accumulate during the month.
Most website sales are based on the “12 to 24 months times monthly revenue” formula and according to that projection DNXpert is valued at between $12,000 to $24,000.
For once I can say that a website value approximation tool got somewhere close to a realistic value with the $28,553.22 value calculated by CubeStat.com.

As Francois pointed out in the comments below, Moniker is valued the same as DNXpert.com however I think this should not take away from the estimate this tool provides – it’s just that Moniker should be valued by the service it provides rather than any website content measuring metrics.
Similarly, Domaining Manifesto, the ebook I am giving away these days, used to bring in $1000+ every month yet the tool estimates the value of the website at $4,493.88

It appraises Facebook at 438M which seems one heck of a lot more reasonable than that 4B figure some people have been throwing around.
For just a thousands dollar less it look likes I could afford to buy Moniker.com

Haha, indeed Francois, their estimation of Moniker value is pointless – perhaps because of the type of website Moniker is – it does not offer much in terms of content but rather offers services.

Yea, I tried one of my sites and it was way way off. Shows a value of 2k but it does about 5k a month in revenue (affiliate alone). – Not sure how they “see” the value of 2k.
