Godaddy Moves To Close Standard Tactics LLC
Posted on December 18th, 2008 by admin in Domain News | 2 Comments »
We recently mentioned a post by Andrew of DomainNameWire that uncovered some alleged warehousing practices by Godaddy with it’s Standard Tactics LLC subsidiary.
Basically, what Godaddy was doing was passing on all the domain names that noone bought at the Godaddy expired domain auctions to it’s subsidiary – Standard Tactics LLC – who then promptly parked these same domain names for profit – effectively never allowing domain names registered with Godaddy to truly expire ( well at least the good ones ).
Well, following all the hubbub as reported by Andrew and picked up by TechCrunch and many other news portals and blogs, Andrew was called in to the live talk show on GoDaddyRadio by Bob Parsons – owner of Godaddy.com – for clear the air talks.
During this interview Parsons revealed that Godaddy is shutting down Standard Tactics LLC. All domain names owned by the subsidiary will be added to GoDaddy’s auction service The Domain Name AfterMarket with a $10 starting bid. The story has once again made the headlines on TechCrunch too.
In my opinion it’s good to see Godaddy listen to its customers and make quick, effective changes to adjust its dealings according to public opinion – it’s a refreshing change and something we have not seen many companies do when faced with similar circumstances in the past.
