GoDaddy Launches Web Marketplace!

At a time when web retail sales are diminishing, GoDaddy is hoping it can translate its home page traffic into general goods sales on its newly launched web marketplace.
The company launched the Go Daddy Marketplace on Tuesday letting users list as many things as they want for a monthly fee of $5 and 10% commission on any sales made. GoDaddy has not advertised the marketplace yet apart from a link near the top of its home page.
The company hopes to turn it’s homepage visitors into buyers and sellers on its newly launched marketplace. According to ComScore Inc., the Go Daddy site averaged 2.3 million visitors per month in 2008.
Godaddy’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Barb Rechterman thinks that “Businesses need to do business,” and that it’s a good time to start such a service, saying that merchants are hungry to sell their products.
Definitely an interesting move from Godaddy.
