Luke Colley, an American Express worker in the UK splurged £67,000 of the company’s customers’ cash as revenge after claiming the credit card firm ‘ruined’ his life.

Colley, 21, told police that he committed the crime because he was angry at the firm after he worked for them in Australia and was dismissed after his job was given to an Australian resident – forcing him to return home to the UK.

He was finally given his chance to exact his revenge when he was given the job as a customer service representative with the firm in the UK.

Colley’s purchases included a £5,000 deposit for an exclusive Wimbledon debenture pass, a club class BA flight to Amsterdam, mobile phones, computer games and dozens of concert tickets.

Additionally, Colley attempted to purchase the domain name testyourspeed.com for £25,000 but the transaction was stopped after the source of his funds was discovered.

American Express has covered the total losses as a result of the fraud which amount to £37,000 after deducting the canceled sales.

Colley pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of trust and possession of articles for use in fraud and was jailed for 15 months last Friday.
