Three Domain Registrars Lose Accreditation
Posted on August 10th, 2009 by admin in Domain News | 1 Comment »
South America Domains Ltd doing business under namefrog.com, Simply Named Inc of simplynamed.com and Tahoe Domains Inc have not had their Registrar Accreditation Agreement renewed by ICANN upon expiration for failure to comply with the requirements of the RAA.
Each of the three registrars received letters with non-renewal notice from ICANN.
NameFrog’s violation was failure to provide “an interactive web page and a port 43 Whois service providing free public query-based access to up-to-date data concerning all active registered names sponsored by the registrar for each TLD in which it is accredited.”
Simply Named’s and Tahoe Domains’ violations were noted as “failing to submit an electronic copy of a database to ICANN or a reputable escrow agent approved by the Registrar and ICANN, and failure to pay accreditation fees”.
The letters do indicate that the registrars are able to reapply for renewal if they can comply with the obligations outlined in the RAA.
The letters can be read in full on ICANN’s announcements page.
