Sedo today announced the findings of its Q2 Market Trends Study for 2009 revealing ongoing strong demand for premium generic domain names. Sedo’s Q2 yielded more than $15 million in sales, with a noted increase in .net and ccTLDs sales.

The .net extension has seen its highest average sales price recorded over the past three years in Sedo’s global marketplace while the average price for a ccTLD is currently greater than the average of all domains sold on Sedo’s marketplace in the second quarter of 2009.

The following is Sedo’s list of the highest selling domains in the second quarter of 2009:

Talk.com: $500,000
Spel.se: $266,000
HorseRacing.co.uk: $165,000
OnlineCasino.co.uk: $165,000
LiveStream.com: $100,000
TimeManagement.com: $100,000
90.com: $74,480
Concept.com: $53,200
Foros.com: $47,880
Descargas.net: $45,936

“The report underscores growing interest in generic domains due to their tremendous value, as well as indicates emerging trends that will impact the secondary domain market in 2009 and beyond,” said Jeremiah Johnston, chief operating officer for Sedo. “While we expect the .com extension to remain on top, this study reveals the strong investment opportunities that the .net extension and ccTLDs can provide to businesses and individual investors and developers.”
