Good News For .BIZ – Overstock.com To Launch O.BIZ
Posted on September 15th, 2009 by admin in Domain News | 1 Comment »
Discount online retailer Overstock.com announced today that it is to publish a new website at O.BIZ to cater for bulk merchandise purchases by interested parties. The online retailer will be working with Neustar, the domain name registry for .BIZ, to launch the new site.
O.BIZ aims to provide small businesses and customers the opportunity to buy large quantities at great discounts and will primarily focus on restaurant, office, and hotel products. The new site will have a similar look and feel to Overstock.com and will be supported by the Overstock.com customer support team.
“The .BIZ extension is appealing to growing, innovative businesses. Our goal is to have O.BIZ help small to medium-size businesses save money by leveraging the purchasing power of Overstock.com,” said Overstock.com Chairman and CEO Patrick Byrne.
“The simplicity of this domain name will help drive consumers to this new e-commerce destination for small to medium-sized businesses,” said Tim Switzer, Neustar’s vice president of Registry Services. “O.BIZ will increase the visibility of this new initiative for Overstock.com, and we look forward to its successful launch.”
O.biz was one of the domain names not listed in the upcoming .BIZ one character domain auction to be held September 23 to 30 … Can we expect similar deals for the other names not listed in the auction (0.biz, 3.biz, I.biz, Q.biz)?
The new O.BIZ website will launch on October 31, 2009.
