Hotel-Reservation.com In Highest Hyphenated Domain Sale Ever
Posted on September 18th, 2009 by admin in Buying & Selling | 1 Comment »
DNJournal reports that Hotel-Reservation.com has changed ownership for a reported $209,916 which is officially the highest amount paid for a hyphenated domain name ever.
Conventionally, domainers feel that a hyphenated domain will lose a lot of it’s traffic to it’s non hyphenated sibling – which is probably why noone has ever paid more than the newly reported amount for a domain name with a dash in it.
According to DNJournal, this however is not the case in Germany, where about half of all .de domain names are hyphenated – Germans love a “dash of dash” in the domain names it seems.
The new owner of the domain name according to whois info is Robert Ragge of the Hotel Reservation Service company in Cologne, Germany.
