Google Celebrates The Barcode
Posted on October 7th, 2009 by admin in Domain News | No Comments »
Google is celebrating the 57th anniversary of the first patent of the barcode by using a barcode representation of it’s name as it’s logo today. Inventors Norman Woodland and Bernard Silver had the patent granted on October 7, 1952.

According to TechCrunch, the barcode on Google’s page is Code 128 encoded which is a standard way of encoding ASCII character strings into a barcode.
Google puts up different logos for different occasions during the year. You can see some of Google’s past logos here and here.
