JustDropped.com Acquired by Epik.com

Epik have announced on their blog that they have completed the purchase of JustDropped.com – the expired domain search and drop catching service.

As DomainNameWire reports, this is the second recent domain services related purchase by Epik, as they recently also acquired DNKO.com – a domain auction platform.

About the JustDropped.com purchase, Epik owner Rob Monster says:

The area of drop-catching has long held appeal to me. I liked it in 2007 when I led a group in an unsuccessful bid to acquire Snapnames. I like drop-catching even more now that large numbers of worthwhile names are being dropped on a daily basis.

It appears Epik plans to expand JustDropped services by offering direct drop catching services from its website – something JustDropped never did as JustDropped owner Dan Rubin caught the domain names himself using his dropcatching software and offered it to his subscribers for a small fee.

I contacted Dan Rubin, who I had worked with in the past (he is a helluva guy), and asked for a statement about the deal. Here is what he said:

I am extremely excited about the possibilities for JD combined with the power of Epik and Rob Monster. Rob is an innovative force within the community and the best is yet to come.

Dan will remain President of JustDropped for the time being and will also take a role with Epik as their Domain Acquisition Director.

It will be very interesting to see how Epik expands JD and I for one wish Dan and Rob the best of luck with their project.

By the way, we recently did a review of Just Dropped if you want to learn more about using the site to your benefit.
