Resumes.com Sells For $400,000
Posted on October 20th, 2009 by admin in Buying & Selling | 3 Comments »
Domaining blogs are reporting that Sedo has sold Resumes.com for a whopping $400,000.
As reported by DNN the domain name is still in Sedo’s brokerage account so it’s unclear who the buyer is. The whois for the domain name states:
Registrant:
Sedo LLC
161 First St, 4 Floor
Cambridge, MA 02142
US
According to the waybackmachine, resumes.com was initially (2000-2002) used exclusively for email. In 2003 however, a website was established – career related – and different versions of it appeared in 2004 and 2005. Finally, they settled on a permanent version early in 2006 and have had the same design since.
As ChefPatrick reports, and as can be deduced from the web archives listed above, the domain name has quite a few backlinks and a steady flow of traffic.
Google Page Rank: 5
Compete.com Traffic: 14,330 Unique and 14,693 Total Visits
Alexa Rank: 701,742
My verdict: a good deal for both buyer and seller in the current climate.

Very fair price. About 400,000 exact searches for “resumes”. + a good solid market that will not go anywhere. And very good comissions from head hunters I am sure.
Very good development opportunity and short and brandable category killer name.
Congrats to both seller for letting it go for fair price and buyer with a nice investment.
Nevermind the previous number. Was distracted by a kid and did not notice that 400k is for singular. I suppose buyer paid a bit much for it then for brand-ability and “one word”.
Even though in my eyes development wise plural is better for this name if you want to build an internet resume resource.
