Aussies Rejoice – Finally A .com.au Drop Catching Service

Knowing that I am an Australian domain news blogger, lots of people have emailed me in the past asking whether I knew of any .com.au (Australian ccTld) drop catching services and my categorical answer was “sorry mate, no”.
Well, that is no longer the case – if you ask me the same question today I can definitely say “you better believe it!”.
Dark Blue Sea (famous for Fabulous.com and FabulousDomains.com) have launched Drop.com.au – a drop catching service for the .com.au and .net.au domain name extensions.
They were smart enough to go with a “NO CATCH NO PAY service guarantee” which is the standard in the drop catching world today. Judging from their knowledge base, the minimum you can end up paying for a caught domain name is AUD 1 as your auction-winning bid plus a standard domain registration fee of AUD 49.95 (INC GST). The $49.95 is standardly added on to your auction winning bid – whatever your winning bid happens to be.
Interestingly, and specific to Aussie domain names, the names drop during business days only. The DROP ZONE is between 10:30AM – 5:00PM AEST on business days only, (i.e. Mon-Fri excluding public holidays), and the actual time when the committed domains are purged is random.
Judging from today’s list of drop names, this is going to be an invaluable service and one that I am going to be a regular participant of! Today’s list includes: MowingServices.com.au, MyBaby.com.au, Shellfish.com.au, AirPrint.com.au etc.
Past purchases have yielded some very valuable domain assets on the cheap – for example, printing.com.au was picked up by a lucky bidder for a measly AUD 9221.00.
According to some off the record sources, Dark Blue Sea plan to provide other services in parallel with drop.com.au including an Aussie domain aftermarket which can only be a good thing for the Aussie domain space.
