Good News For .Mobi, Mobile Web Usages Exploding

Following the recent Web 2.0 Summit where Morgan Stanley’s Managing Director Mary Meeker reported indications of the economy recovering and predicted that the “mobile web will be 10 times as big as the more traditional desktop Internet”, as reported by TechCrunch, we learn that Opera Mini, Opera’s mobile browser, grew it’s user base by 11 percent this month.

According to this post on TechCrunch, Opera Mini’s October user count is thought to have been nearly 40 million users as compared to 32 million users in August. On top of that, Opera Mini delivered 17.2 billion last month, a 238 percent annual increase!

Such figures can only be a good thing for dotmobi who recently made 1 and 2 character .mobi names available for the first time.
