SitePoint Launches NameMyThingy.com

Following in the successful footsteps of their previously launched social network projects Flippa and 99designs, the folks at SitePoint.com have launched NameMyThingy.com – to help members come up with names for their thingies/stuff!

If you’re after ideas for a name, you’ve come to the right place. It might be for your new business, your web site, or even your new pet. Simply place a listing, nominate a prize for the best entry, and watch the creative ideas roll in.

As things are in beta stage at the moment, listings are free for the next 30 days…

Looking at the current listings, folks are are posting requests like “Name our New Hobby Farm”, “Name my boutique store”, “Marketing and Creative Boutique Looking for a stylish name” with prizes as high as $100.

The drawing point, obviously, in these NameMyThingy contests is that folks will be getting money for suggesting names – if they win – just like they get money to come up with designs in 99designs.com.

An interesting story to follow as it unfolds.
