Dixie Chicks Know Their Domain Names

Posted on January 18th, 2010 by admin in Domain News | 1 Comment »

Following some big failures to acquire domain names prior to launching a new brand – as highlighted by the recent failure of Burj Khalifa owners to purchase BurjKhalifa.com, the two remaining Dixie Chicks members Martie Maguire and Emily Robinson are showing the world how it’s done.

Now that Natalie Maines has left the trio, the duo has decided to rebrand themselves as “Court Yard Hounds” in reference to Ian Livingstone’s best-selling novel “City of Thieves”.

The first thing they did before making their name public was to purchase courtyardhounds.com – thanks to good advice from Brian Serocke and Strategic Artist Management.

Martie and Emily have started recording their first album and plan to release it in May. Emily will serve as the lead vocalist and team up with Jakob Dylan in a song called “See You in the Spring”. This duo will make their debut performance at the South by Southwest music conference in Austin this March and launch a tour after the album is dropped.

O RLY? The advice they received was only 2/3 as good as it needed to be. They forgot to register courtyardhounds.ORG! Fortunately, I took care of that oversight… the domain now redirects to my Dixie Chicks fan site. I’m really excited that the Erwin sisters are going to finally have their banjo and fiddle heard… but they’re just lucky the domain went to a fan, and not to one of the band’s steamroller-driving foes.
