Microsoft Botches Url Shortener For Bing
Posted on January 18th, 2010 by admin in Domain News | No Comments »
UK-based My Microsoft Life blog has picked up on a Tweet by a Microsoft/Bing employee using a new url shortener for Bing – this has been confirmed by Seattle PI who contacted Microsoft directly, and has been discussed on TechCrunch.
Ok, so we know everyone and their grandma are springing for a url shortener as outlined by us a few weeks ago… the odd thing is that the url shortener by Microsoft for Bing is binged.it?!?!
What’s so weird about it?
Well, Google’s shortener, goo.gl, is 5 characters long. Facebook’s fb.me is 4 characters long. Bing’s binged.it is 8 characters. Even Bing.com itself is 7 characters. Kinda beats the whole point of being a url shortener doesn’t it?
