Baidu To Launch Video Subsidiary On Qiyi.com

Chinese websites are reporting that Chinese-language online giant Baidu plans to launch their newly formed video company on qiyi.com, a recently acquired domain name (ref:jlmpacificepoch.com).

According to the reports, the new site will direct 90% of its spending on obtaining authorized video content.

The qiyi.com domain names whois info shows a change on February 2, 2010, the same time the news was leaked – as per the whois info, the domain name is registered to a Beijing individual. The reports indicate Baidu also purchased qiyi.cn.

The newly formed subsidiary is set to launch in March 2010.
