Real Madrid CF File For RealMadrid.org, Again!
Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin in Domain News | No Comments »
Madrid based Spanish football giant Real Madrid C.F. have filed a UDRP case for the domain name realmadrid.org against one Michele Dinoia of Pineto, Italy.
The club runs its official website off realmadrid.com with various other domain names (realmadrid.es, realmadrid.net, realmadrid.tv) redirecting to this primary domain name.
The domain names realmadrid.org and realmadrid.info are however not in the club’s possession, hence the UDRP filing.
The case is still pending, but considering how well established the Real Madrid brand is and the fact the domain name is parked and is earning the current owner parking revenue from terms like “Football gear” and “football tickets”, I suspect this should be an “open and shut” case.
It is interesting to note, however, that Real Madrid filed for this domain name in the past, in the year 2000 to be precise. The domain name was awarded to them in a decision in February 2001, so we can only assume they managed to let the domain name expire in the time since for the domain name to no longer be in their possession.
