DomainingTips.com Launches Auctionpus.com

Domain auction platforms seem to be the flavor of the month so it’s no surprise another one has been launched – this time by the owner of DomainingTips.com.
Auctionpus.com (Auction Octopus) is alive and kicking and the interesting part is that it seems to be doing quite well.
The idea behind the site is quite simple based on the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid) – each day the site will auction off 8 hand picked domain names – with the octopus graphic pointing at each of them.
The site launched with the following domain names all starting with a $1 bid and no reserve:
Flannels.net, PAXE.com, PHP.mx, Forum.im, SwallowFalls.com, FunnyMistakes.com, AudioCabinet.com and SnookerBlog.com.
At the time of writing there have been quite a few bids with AudioCabinets.com currently leading the way on $919 closely followed by Flannels.net on $708, SnookerBlog.com on $697 and Paxe.com on $564.
Although the current auction will last 3 days, the site intends to have all future auctions run exactly 24 hours.
“As of Monday, each set of 8 auctions will start at 2 PM EST and end at 2 PM EST the next day.”
Seems like an interesting concept and a fresh approach to auctioning off domain names. I am also liking the fact the owner intends to not allow crap names in on the action.
Let’s see how it goes. Good luck with your bids.

@Ms Domainer: thanks
The “Auction + Octopus = Auctionpus” format (8 auctions per day) represents the best balance between quality and quantity IMO. On the one hand, people are able to check out the domains which will be offered each day in less than a minute (in other words, not making Auctionpus.com a part of your daily surfing routine would be a mistake: if you see something you like, take action and if not, move on and return tomorrow, rinse and repeat) rather than spend lots of time going through long lists of domains and on the other hand, since we only have 8 spots each day, accepting low-quality domains would be a huge mistake for all parties involved.
